(URBAN … CHARACTERISTIC OF THE CITY OR CITY LIFE)
(COASTAL … PERTAINING TO OR BORDERING THE COAST)
I live in the coastal town of Murrells Inlet, SC, with my wonderful husband and precious daughter. I spend my days like most busy moms juggling work, kids, and life. I enjoy Pilates, occasional tennis and trying new recipes with simple, fresh ingredients. My quest for new design easily transfers into cooking so we rarely eat the same thing twice!
With a BS degree from Appalachian State University, I spent ten years working for large furniture and textile companies in various creative merchandising positions. I traveled to big cities to gather design inspiration, attended national color workshops like the Color Marketing Group™, and studied professional trend publications like The Trend Curve™. Hands down the best part of my job was shopping the High Point and New York City fabric markets aka Showtime! Of course going to furniture market every year is also exciting and inspiring. Combining my love of fabrics and home furnishings led me to pursue a dream of opening my own interior design business and in 2003, I launched Urban Interiors. I chose the name Urban because by definition it is characteristic of city life and it’s in my travels to cities where I find much design inspiration. Living in the low country of South Carolina also inspires me with its natural beauty. It’s no wonder my favorite design style is sophisticated, clean and modern with a hint of organic and coastal texture.
I’ve been in business for ten years now and designed many custom homes as well as tackled some kitchen and bath remodels. I consider the kitchen the heart of the home and I absolutely love designing them. Most of my projects have been in North and South Carolina but I’m really excited to launch the new e-design room service business to be able to reach customers who live virtually anywhere.
